On June 9, 2024, a meeting of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) of the Dushanbe Water Process was held in advance of the Third High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018-2028.

The meeting was chaired by IAC Co-Chairman Sulton Rahimzoda, Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan with participation of permanent members of the IAC and their representatives, invited guests and other interested parties.

Within the framework of the meeting the members of the International Advisory Committee discussed and presented their comments and proposals on finalization of the Final Document of the 3rd Conference on the Water Action Decade Conference, which was presented by the International Consultant on preparation and holding of the Conference Kelly Ann Naylor. An initial draft of the Outcome Document was circulated in May this year to UN Member States, international organizations and other stakeholders.

In early June, after receiving comments and proposals from states and organizations, including members of the International Steering Committee of the Dushanbe Water Process and the Steering Committee of the Group of Friends of Water under the UN and other interested experts, the draft document was finalized.

​​​On May 30, 2024, on the sidelines of the Third ministerial meeting “Central Asia — Italy” in Rome, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin held a meeting with the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development Mr. Alvaro Lario.

During the meeting, the course of the implementation of government strategies and programs of the Republic of Tajikistan in the areas of agriculture and food security were discussed.

The parties also touched upon issues related to water and climate change as well as the process of preparation for the Third Dushanbe Water Conference.

The delegation of Tajikistan led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Farrukh Sharifzoda takes part in the International Conference on Nuclear Security (ICONS), organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on May 20-24, 2024 in Vienna.

During his speech, F. Sharifzoda informed participants about the situation of nuclear security in the country, measures undertaken by the Government of Republic of Tajikistan under the leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon, as well as the level of international cooperation of the Republic of Tajikistan with development partners in this direction.

On May 8, 2024, 35th Tehran International Book Fair was opened in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran. At the Exhibition Hall, by the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Tehran and in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan was established Tajikistan’s pavilion. Books of the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon and many newly published books of Tajik scientists and writers are exhibited in the pavilion.

The Republic of Tajikistan’s pavilion has attracted the attention of Iranian book lovers.

This Exhibition will continue until May 18.

On May 2, 2024, another initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon, the proclamation of the “International Day of the Markhor” through the relevant resolution was adopted unanimously by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The resolution recognizes the urgent need to address the unprecedented global decline in biodiversity, emphasizing the preservation of the Markhor and its natural habitat as an ecological imperative. The resolution also underscores the significance of international and regional cooperation in conserving the Markhor, recognizing national and regional initiatives already underway.

With the adoption of this resolution, May 24 was declared the International Day of the Markhor.

It also takes note of the upcoming, Ninth World Conference on Mountain Ungulates, to be held in Dushanbe from 12 to 15 October 2024.

The Markhor (Capra falconeri) is an iconic and ecologically significant species found across the mountainous regions of Central Asia and South Asia, including Tajikistan, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The Markhor plays a crucial role in ecosystems, biodiversity, and tourism of the local economies, and understanding its conservation at the global level is important, considering that this species is on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

On March 16, 2024, in the city of Berlin, the diplomatic missions of the countries traditionally celebrating Navruz, in cooperation with the Union of Friends of the Ethnological Museum and the Organization of International Cultural Cooperation, celebrated the International Navruz Holiday.

Officials of the host country, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and citizens of the Navruz countries took part in the celebration.
